Diana Scherer

Diana Scherer (born 1971 in Lauingen, Germany) lives and works in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where she studied at the Rietveld Academy. Her work combines botany, installations, and textiles. She is interested in the relationship between humans and their natural environment. Through her installations, she explores the boundaries between cultivated plants and nature. Her work is based on a deep curiosity about what neurobiologists call the "brain of plants." Scherer studies plants and their root systems, integrating plant intelligence into her creations. Recent exhibitions include Soil at Somerset House, London (2025), Manifesta Metropolitana (2024), Reset Now – Haus der Kunst, Munich, Farming Textiles – Museum Kranenburgh (2023-2024), Reset Now – Haus der Kunst, Munich (2024), Intelligence of Plants – Frankfurter Kunstverein (2021), Sydney Biennale (2022), Gene Cultures – MIT Museum, Cambridge (ongoing), Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (2023), and Fashioned from Nature at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, and Shenzhen.
