Théophile De Bascher

Théophile de Bascher is a sculptor graduated from the École des Arts Décoratifs, having grown up in a family of artists. From a young age, he was immersed in a creative environment where his father, a wood sculptor, taught him the techniques of direct carving. Today, he primarily works with stone and wood, sourcing his materials from the offcuts of his family estate—a tangible heritage that feeds his artisanal and poetic approach to sculpture. For over three years, Théophile de Bascher has dedicated himself to exploring natural materials, particularly the way stone interacts with time and the environment. He places special emphasis on the handmade nature of his objects, highlighting the precision of the gesture and the sensitive transformation of the material as it evolves through his work.
